Middle school is the worst.
Middle school can be the worst years of your life and now some of the worst for your child.
These are the school years when she faces social rejection and feels socially isolated. Where did all the friends she used to have go? She’s also awkward, as her body changes – making her look more like an adult with adult feelings. But she still has so much to learn and many things to figure out.
Who is she? She doesn’t know and is grasping to figure it out.
You worry that if she keeps on this isolated course, she might become depressed or worse. Could that depression lead to self-harm or suicidal thinking? Maybe it already has. This isolation can’t be good for her.
These are stressful times for your pre-teen.
Being in middle school is hard on everybody. I understand what it is like for your child.
As a former middle school teacher, I know first-hand what middle school is like for your child. I know how mean the kids can be and how hard it is to be different.
Fitting in is challenging, and figuring out who you are with so much happening around you can be difficult. There are so many pressures and changes!
